Overview

At Humanis Learning Space, safety, trust, and integrity are fundamental to our learning community. To ensure a secure environment for students, parents, tutors, and academic advisors, we partner with Trusted Employees to offer comprehensive background checks, including criminal record searches and Social Security Number (SSN) traces.

While Humanis Learning Space does not require every tutor or academic advisor to complete a background check, we strongly encourage participation. Completing a background check enhances transparency and may improve a tutor’s or advisor’s visibility and credibility within our platform.

Tutors and academic advisors who choose to undergo a background check must provide required information — including full legal name, current residential address, SSN, and any known aliases — to Trusted Employees within seven (7) business days of initiating the process.

Background Check Process

When a background check is requested, our partner, Trusted Employees, conducts a national criminal background search that includes the following components:

Social Security Number Trace: Verifies the validity of the SSN and confirms identity through name, name variations, and address history.
OFAC & Global Watch List Search: Screens records from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and international terrorist and sanctions lists.
National Criminal Database Search: Compiles criminal records from multiple jurisdictions, including state Departments of Corrections, County Clerks of Court, and other public record sources.
National Sex Offender Registry Search: Checks all 50 U.S. state databases for any record of sex offender registration.

Please note that while the background check process is comprehensive, it may not include all local, federal, or international records. The results are limited to publicly available data, and background checks cannot guarantee the complete absence of criminal history.

Evaluation and Results

Background check results are provided to Humanis Learning Space as a pass/fail outcome to protect the privacy of tutors and advisors. Convictions related to violence, theft, fraud, or offenses involving minors may result in profile deactivation or denial of platform access in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Tutors and advisors are responsible for the $29.95 background check fee. Profiles with a background check in progress will be listed as “Pending” until verification is complete. If the background check remains pending for more than 30 consecutive days, the account may be temporarily deactivated.

Upon successful completion, a verification badge and the date of the most recent background check will appear on the tutor’s or advisor’s profile for public viewing.

Failed or Disputed Background Checks

If a background check fails or if the required information and authorization are not submitted within the specified timeframe, the account will be deactivated.

Tutors and advisors have the right to dispute background check results directly with Trusted Employees:

Please also notify Humanis Learning Space at support@humanislearning.com of any active dispute or amended background check result. If a background check is successfully corrected, the tutor or advisor’s account will be reinstated.

Providing false or incomplete personal information, including incorrect names, aliases, or SSNs, will invalidate the background check and may result in account deactivation.
